She loved her America... This is her in 1976, age 18, celebrating the bicentennial of Independence Day. She had made that hat herself with an American flag. She had never been to the USA and would not realize her dream for another 20 years.

Elle aimait son Amerique. La voila en 1976, a 18 ans, marquant le bicentennaire des Etats-Unis. Elle avait fait cette casquette elle meme avec un drapeau americain. Elle n'avait encore jamais vu l'Amerique et devrait attendre encore 20 ans pour realiser enfin son reve.

  1. Will the world forgive me for a few weeks if I linger here in the past? I feel if I focus hard enough I can erase time back to the last time I saw Christine, so I could hold her longer, so I can chase after the white van that took her away from Colorado.

  2. I wonder how this love for the USA started. This is something that I didn't get to understand...Asking her, it felt strange, how do you ask somebody "why do you like ice cream"? Not that the USA is like ice cream, but for her...the mountains of the west were like ice cream for a kid.
