Today is my cousin Amelie's birthday. She turns 25 and is pregnant with her 1st child, a boy due in February. She was my mom's niece, the 1st daughter of her little sister.
They had a special bond when my cousin was little, from about 2 to maybe 5 years old. We lived far apart but she loved her "Tata Christine" when we visited.
Of her, my mom would say she didn't have "her two feet in the same shoe" -meaning she was resourceful and knew to take care of herself. She also said that she would give the shirt on her back -a generous girl.
I am back in contact with Amelie after a few years of non talking; mom's death has thawed the ice there, even though we're not that close. I will visit her in April and see her baby boy.

Aujourd'hui c'est l'anniversaire de ma cousine Amelie, 25 ans enceinte de son 1er enfant, un garcon qui naitra en Fevrier. C'est aussi la niece de maman, la premiere fille de sa petite soeur.
Elles avaient un lien particulier, quand ma cousine etait petite, de 2 a 5 ans environ. On habitait loin, mais elle adorait sa tata Christine quand on se voyait.
D'elle, maman disait qu'elle n'avait pas les 2 pieds dans la meme galoche et aussi qu'elle aurait donne sa chemise.
Je suis de nouveau en contact avec Amelie apres quelques annees de froid. Je la verrai en Avril ainsi que son bebe.
