My grandma had these vinyl discs, with children stories and songs on them , that my mom and her sisters used to listen to when they were kids, and I did too, years later.
There was this one song that went "popola-gay-nah-go, bee buh lee bee buh lo".
For some reason she had started using "popola-gay-nah-go" as an adjective meaning less than perfect, especially concerning her furniture, or sets up that saved money but didn't look very good, amateur, or homemade.

My grand mere avait des disques pour enfants, avec des histoires et des chansons, que maman et mes tantes ecoutaient quand elles etaient petites, et que j'ecoutais aussi, des annees plus tard.
Il y a avait une chanson avec le refrain "popolaguenago, bibeli, bibelo".
Je ne sais pas pourquoi, mais elle avait commence a utilise popolaguenago en tant qu'adjectifm qui voulait dire pas terrible, surtout en parlant de meubles ou d'arrangements interieurs qui ne coutait pas cher ou etaient fait maison, mais pas tres bien.
